We have a very hard working and active support group
Please join us

There will be a meeting of the full council, also at the Council Offices, on Tuesday 23rd February at 7.30pm
at which our 7,500 name petition will be presented.  We do not know as yet when the petition will be discussed
by the council.  We will add this information as soon as possible.

Current actions:
A mega-petition
7,500 signatures conclusively demonstrating residents' wishes
which the council just cannot ignore.

Putting forward independent councillors for election in May 2010

Writing letters to the Mercury  and other local papers.
We have had letters in almost every editiion in 2009

Radio publicity and interviews.

Communication with councillors, officers and our MP
by letter e-mail and meetings

Attendance at Council meetings when the pool is being discussed.

Asking questions
at neighbourhood forums and other community meetings

Campaign History 2009
A 1000 name petition
hastily gathered presented to the council on 24th Feb
requesting that the pool be opened in 2009

A facebook group of over 1000 was established. Thanks to Kirsty Fish and Loise Gravelle

A demonstration
held at the mayor making ceremony at
the Council Offices, Bishops' College, Cheshunt on 19th May.

Prime Minister's web site petition
which attracted over 1000 names.
We are still waiting for a response.  Thanks to all those who signed.

The ombudsman: was informed of our objections regarding the way the decision was taken
We believe this was a case of mal-administration. A final response has yet to be given.

A dignified demo was held in the public gallery of the Council Chamber
at the Community Services Meeting on
Sept 3rd 2009.

Wormley and Turnford Neighbourhood Forum 8/10/09
Residents present were unanimlously against pool closure

Broxbourne and Hoddesdon Town Neighbourhood Forum
Residents were unanimously against pool closure with the exception of one
resident Tory councillor who appeared concerned that we had been susidising "foreigners",
those from outside the borough of Broxbourne, e.g people from Nazeing, who had used the pool.
In view of resident's wishes, it was agreed that a new pool would be considered as a site option.

Community Services Committee Meeting 12/1/'10
Councillors agreed to give the pool site to a community group subject to the production of a business plan
by June 1st June 2010.
This 'offer' did not include the grassed area or the car park nor any financial support.
A realistic business plan would need to be informed by a feasibility study [voted for by councillors in 2007 but never carried out.].  The only information that the council have produced is a report on the condition of the
pool carried out in 1999.
