Action for HOAP - was established to ensure that the site of Hoddesdon Open Air Pool [HOAP] remains a swimming venue.
Our aim is to persuade Broxbourne Council to develop the site as an all year swimming facility. This is necessary in order to attract funding as it is unlikely that money could be found to renovate the existing pool unless we can attract a really wealthy sponsor!
We believe that:
"Swimming is the best all round sport for our health. It is the least discriminating, certainly in age and ability and it has the highest appeal in the nation. [Ihave been told] that we cannot afford to do it. We are not a third world country, we are the third largest economy in the world and we darn well should afford it" Duncan Goodhew MBE
